Watching The Detectives is a gritty and imaginative modern take on the classic crime story. This is a story that showcases the neighbourhoods and people you rarely see represented. Some of this is fact, some of this is fiction but it’s all wild.

HOUSE OF STROMBO

House of Strombo is a 10 episode concert series featuring a combination of international legends with young and upcoming artists across a variety of music genres, all playing live shows in George Stroumboulopoulos' downtown Toronto home. The series is the first of its kind in Canada presented by Apple Music on YouTube, with each episode accompanied by exclusive video features, band interviews and behind-the-scenes access only on Apple Music.

THE STROMBO SHOW

The Strombo Show (radio) is a 4 hour commercial-free, algorithm-free, musical, cultural, and community experience on CBC Music. From Aretha Franklin to Slayer, De La to Captain Beefheart, and everything in between. There are no boundaries. All genres, all eras. Great music, great interviews, great company.

The Strombo Show presents an International Women's Day Special, featuring performances that include Amelia Curran, Heartstreets covering Lauryn Hill, the Lonely Parade covering Martha and the Muffins, Lou Canon covering Erykah Badu, Lynn Moffatt covering Mary Gauthier, Measha Brueggergosman covering Joni Mitchell, Tami Neilson covering Mavis Staples, Whitney Rose covering Lesley Gore and the exclusive debut of a song from Metric.

On Nov. 4, The Strombo Show presented a four-hour special honouring the 75th birthday of Joni Mitchell featuring exclusive covers and conversations.

TSS PRESENTS: HIP30

The Strombo Show invited Canada's best bands into George's living room to celebrate and cover their favourite Hip songs and share their memories of the band, the music and of course, Gord Downie. Four hours of incredible music, memories and moments. There has never been a show like this — Canada's best covering Canada'a band.

Who Are We

GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS

Executive Producer

George Stroumboulopoulos is a Canadian television and radio interviewer, writer and media producer. He was host and executive producer of the CBC talk show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight (formerly The Hour), Stroumboulopoulos on CNN, host of The NewMusic with MuchMusic and anchored Hockey Night in Canada.

BOB MACKOWYCZ

Executive Producer

Bob Mackowycz is a broadcaster, producer and screenwriter with a career spanning more than two decades. He was a founder and owner of Shore FM 104.3 in Vancouver, graduate of the CFC's Prime Time Television program where he developed the program Orphan Black, in addition to being a recipient of the NSI Drama Prize for his short film The Way It Used To Be.

MICHAEL SUGAR

Executive Producer

Michael Sugar recently launched Sugar23 - a management and production company with a multi-year, first-look deal with Anonymous Content - where he was a partner for many years. He was awarded the Oscar® for Best Picture for “Spotlight,” starring Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, and Rachel McAdams.

CHRIS TAYLOR

Executive Producer

Chris Taylor is the Global President, Music at Entertainment One. Prior to eOne, Chris was Canada’s most successful music attorney representing Drake, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne and many others.

RACQUEL MESINA

Producer

Racquel Mesina has worked in film, television and digital entertainment for over 10 years. Her distribution experience began with international sales at Cinemavault. She joined the broadcaster Corus as part of Programming (Network Operations and Integration), moved to Legal, and then studios Digital department (Nelvana). She currently holds multiple functions at Son House Productions, both operational and creative.

JULIA SCHNEIDER

Watching The Detectives (Producer)

Julia Schneider has grown up in the entertainment industry for the past 20 years. She has worked in multiple facets in the industry including acting, casting and talent management. In her current position at Ambition Talent, she has developed many up and coming performers; from stand-up comedians to both television and film actors.
